The SPACE Age Sirens, a choir of senior women from the East End led by Laka D, sung excerpts from washing machine user manuals. We recorded them and arranged the songs in a 5.1 surround sound environment.

The work with the SPACE Age Sirens pokes fun at the technobabble and nannying tone of user manuals. As the choir instructs us on the operation of washing machines, so they remind us that, in the space age, common sense has never been so urgently needed.

Nagaratharan – ‘Inter city’ – is a spectacular surround sound dance, performance and light installation developed for the Mayor’s Trafalgar Square Fstival 2007 by Attakalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore. Mukul Patel composed a multi-point sound installation that bridged 2000 years of the multifaceted history of the city of Bangalore, and suggested formulations for its fast-approaching future.

World premiere of a new work by Christopher Wheeldon for The Royal Ballet opens a mixed programme at the Royal Opera House. The Wheeldon is set to the music of Bach, Steve Reich (Electric Counterpoint), additional sound and dancer's voices designed by Mukul, and a complex multi-screen film work by The Ballet Boyz.
