The Hasselblad Foundation’s exhibition WATCHED! in Göteborg reflects on the complexities of contemporary surveillance. Manu Luksch will present her ongoing research into conceptions of progress based on information technology and the seemingly necessary concomitant mass data surveillance. (Whither human autonomy?). This will be followed by a special screening of FACELESS.

Lighting designer and Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist Michael Hulls invites the audience onto the main stage to experience LightSpace, an immersive installation designed to bathe the audience in light and pay homage to the humble tungsten bulb, with specially commissioned music by Andy Cowton and Mukul. Mukul also composed the soundtrack for KAIROS, a triptych installation by Russell Maliphant.

Commissioned for FUTURS NON-CONFORMES, SMART CITY ABC aims to decode a territory that has produced a specialist vocabulary, in order to promote acessibility to the debate. The vision of the ‘Smart City’ was introduced by some of the largest tech corporations to address population growth, political instability and resource scarcity. This glossary-in-progress aims to illuminate terminology and decipher buzzwords. In order to participate in the shaping of our public spaces, we must engage with this evolving laguage.
