'function fiction' at dazibao, centre de photographies actuelles, includes works by Rod Dickinson (UK), Michael Klier (Germany), Manu Luksch (Austria), Pavel Pavlov (Canada), David Tomas (Canada) This exhibition is concerned with images whose nature is first of all functional and documentary, such as scientific footage or images taken by surveillance cameras, which are then recuperated and re-used to construct fictions or fictitious worlds. The works presented explore the connection between photography (or the recorded image) and its various technological extensions, but also in the idea of diversion of the primary function of the images and their re-appropriation by artists.
