00:00:00
My name is Asseu Jupoh, I come from Thailand.
00:02:05
Iíve come to X-banna to attend the conference on Hani -Akha culture. Iíd like to let the Akha people know what the conference is about.
00:25:05
I would like to introduce Mr. Cha Ke Nyawrbyevq, the [vice] govenor of X-banna province.
00:38:52
Compared to Thailand, this position equals the Phuwarachakarn (governor).
00:46:58
I would like to ask Cha Ke how many Akha people live in the X-banna area.
00:56:58
Can you tell me how many Akha live here?
01:00:50
Cha ke:
In X-banna the Akha population is more than 16,000.
01:07:59
Asseu:
How many Akha villages in total?
Cha Ke answers:
484 villages.
01:11:51
Asseu:
Brother Cha Ke said there are 484 villages.
01:26:54
I would like to ask Brother Cha Ke what you think of this conference and how it can be developed further in the future? Can you tell me your opinion please?
01:39:57
Cha Ke
Here, now in China, because of the governement taking care of the Akha people, we have the possibility of this conference.
01:54:50
I hope this conference will be helpful for the future development of the Akha people.
02:20:50
Asseu:
The province officer named Cha Ke said that the Akha people from China and from other countries will, in the future, be able to travel with each other without any problems. The borders will be open.
02:44:53
I would like to ask another opinion from Brother Cha Ke about what Akha are doing for living here? Can you tell me please, Brother Cha Ke? 02:57:05
Cha Ke
We , the Akha people who live in this area, have got enough rice to survive. We plant tea and other crops. We have a good life now.
03:19:13
Asseu:
Iím very pleased to hear what Brother Cha Ke said.
03:25:05
Iíd like to ask more questions about the conference. Not only Akha people in Thailand will listen to our conversation on radio, but also Akha from Burma and China will be listening.
03:40:09
Now I would like to ask Brother Cha Ke about Akha culture. 03:59:05
The Akha people who live in China use some Chinese to mix into the Akha language. But most of them speak Chinese. It is the same in Thailand. They mix the Thai langage into Akha language. Thatís why I want to ask Cha Ke how we can improve this situation.
04:24:57
Cha Ke:
We are trying to develop the living standard of the Akha people in this area.
04:42:05
I hope it will get better and better day by day. Thereís nothing that cannot be developed.
Asseu
I'm very happy to hear what Brother Cha Ke is saying. Now I want the Akha people to know about this conference. The Akha population in X-banna area is 16000.
05:41:07
I know this data from the Phuwarachakarn. And 15 countries and more than 190 people participate in this conference.
06:01:02
The conference has started since half past eight already, isntít it? At this time I had the chance to meet many people. Therefore Iím very happy. Iím going to broadcast the details of the conference when I return to Thailand and let the Akha people know what weíve been discussing.
06:34:07
I also have to do a report to my boss later, because I have to do these things with the consent of my boss.
06:44:06
We have been taken care of very well here, with a warm welcome from this areaís Akha people. Iím very impressed by the Akha people who take care of us.
07:00:07
